18th June 2009: Student Paper Contest
Eusipco
2009 will feature a student paper contest where papers in which the
first author is a registered student (PhD, Masters of otherwise), and
the student also presents the paper at the conference will be judged
and reviewed with a total of 3 awards worth 450 Euros being presented.
11th June 2009: Wolfson the premier audio DSP company on-board for plenary session
As
well as exhibiting at the Eusipco, Wolfson's Director of DSP
Engineering, Dr Anthony Magrath will deliver a plenary talk on audio
DSP. Wolfson are well know as a the providers of DSP enabled
codecs for the iPod and other portable devices, and recently were
feature in the Nokia press release on their stunning new bluetooth
noise cancellation headset (featuring more than 10 microphones!)
11th June 2009: Exhibition continues to grow
The exhibition (running from Tuesday midday, 25th August, until
Thursday 5pm on the 27th August) has a number of confirmed exhibitors
including, Agilent, Wolfson Microelectronics, Epson, Keithley
Instruments, Steepest Ascent, Texas Instruments, Xilinx, IET, John
Wiley, Institute of System Level Integration. With 11 weeks to go
a strong exhibition is expected with a number of other exhibitors
shortly to be confirmed. Any company with relevant technology who
is interested in participating please contact the organisers.
1st June 2009: Dr Chris Dick of Xilinx to give Plenary Address
Dr
Chris Dick will make a plenary address to the conference on his work on
FPGAs for high speed DSP for wireless and mobile communications.
Chris is the Xilinx Chief DSP Scientist and a well known and respected
figure in both the academic and industrial worlds.

5th May 2009: Epson Design Centre Sign up as Event Sponsors
The EPSON Design Centre have signed up as sponsors at the
Eusipco2009. The EPSON Design Centre has extensive experitise in DSP,
and currently a number of interesting speech based projects running at
the company. (Dr David Crawford, Managing Director was a also a
member of the Technical Review Committee for the event.)
4th May 2009: ISLI Sign up as Event Sponsors
The Institute of System Level Integration in Livingston Scotland,
today signed up as supporter and sponsor of Eusipco2009. Amongst
its activities, ISLI runs an EngD (Engineering Doctorate Centre) and
currently has projects running with companies including Xilinx, Linn
Products, Wolfson Microlelectronics, Thales and others.
1st May 2009: Conference Programme Reviewing Completed!
The final reviews and decisions were made on the papers
submitted to Eusipco 2009. Out of the total or around 800 papers
submitted, around 520 have been formally accepted. The full
programme will be categorised and shortly published on the
website. All authors have now been informed of the decision.
24th April 2009: Steepest Ascent Ltd to Exhibit at Eusipco2009
Steepest Ascent Ltd, the Scottish based DSP and digital communications
company, will exhibit and sponsor at Eusipco2009 in Glasgow. The
company have a number of wireless and mobile software products as well
as DSP design software running on a general simulation platforms.
16th April 2009: Dr Ken Stewart, Vice President Motorola, Schaumberg, USA
The conference is delighted to announce that Dr Ken
Stewart has accepted an invitation to present a plenary session on 3G
and 4G Wireless at the conference. Dr Stewart is a well known and
well respected industry figure, and we are delighted to have him
on-board to present one of the Industry Plenary Sessions at Eusipco2009
in Glasgow.
8th April 2009: Venue Reviewed and Ready to (Rock and) Roll
The conference organisers reviewed the Glasgow Royal
Concert hall, and completed the plan for posters, exhibits and
presentations. The Glasgow
Royal Concert Hall consists of a main auditorium (will seat 800 for the
event - same stage as many a famous musician has graced) and a number
of exhibition rooms, presentation rooms and large meeting rooms. The
entire venue has been hired for Eusipco and is attractive, modern, very
spacious and in the heart of the vibrant city centre.
26th April 2009: Xilinx Provides Conference Sponsorship and Plenary
Xilinx today agreed to participate in the Eusipco 2009 Industry Plenary
Sessions and provide a state of the art review and look ahead to the
next generation of FPGA DSP technology. Xilinx has headquarters
in San Jose, USA, and near Edinburgh, Scotland, runs a design centre, with special expertise on DSP and digital communication.
7th April 2009: Texas Instruments sign up and sponsor and exhibitor.
Texas Instruments signed up to sponsor and exhibit at the 2009 Eusipco in Glasgow.
Texas Instruments are a well know supporter of Eusipco, and attended
and exhibited at last years event. The company also has excellent
connections to Scotland, and has support the TI Chair in Signal Processing for the last 4 years at University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
2nd April 2009: Tutorials Selected for Monday 24th August Presentation
The Eusipco conference committee today selected 6 tutorials to be
presented at the conference. These tutorials will be free for
conference delegates to attend. The topics included are on Image
and Video Coding, Statistical Methods for Pitch Estimation, Generalized
Discrete Fourier Transform: Non-Linear Phase DFT for Improved
Multicarrier Comms, Sparse Sampling, Biometric Authentication.
Presenters are all from top European and American institutions. A
full detailed list will appear shortly in the (linkto...) tutorials
section.
26 March 2009: DSPscotland to Support Eusipco2009
DSPscotland (www.dspscotland.org)
will lend its support to Eusipco2009 by both sponsoring, and
encouraging members to attend the event. Currently DSPscotland is a
member driven and organised grouping of DSP-centric companies, research
institutions, and related Government offices in Scotland. Guy Hunter, will join the Eusipco2009 organising committee as DSPscotland Liason.
18th June 2009: Registration reaches 500 with 10 weeks to go
Registrations for the conference reached 500 on 18th
June. With 10 weeks still to go until the conference start,
this puts the event on track to be one of the large DSP events in the
world, with more than 700 registered attendees expected to attend over
the 4 days.
