is easily accessible by air, road, and rail, and has an excellent, easy
to use transport network to help delegates explore the city. There
are several daily scheduled flights into and out of Glasgow
International Airport from major British and European cities, as well
as from other airports in Asia, Africa, Australia and the US.
Glasgow International Airport
is eight miles from the city centre on the motorway
network. A frequent bus service runs between the airport
and Buchanan Bus Station, which is only a five minute walk from the
University. Prestwick Airport is forty miles from the city
with a direct rail link to Central Railway Station, only a fifteen
minute walk from the university. Serviced largely by budget
airline Ryanair, Prestwick Airport offers cost effective air travel
into Glasgow. Edinburgh Airport is just an hour's drive away and also offers a wide choice of flights.

Glasgow is near to three
major airports (Glasgow International (10 miles), Glasgow Prestwick (25
miles) and Edinburgh International (40 miles).

Tel: 0870 040008 Glasgow International Airport is located eight miles from Glasgow City Centre. Delegates can take a taxi into the city centre. The taxi pick-up point is located outside the Domestic Arrivals area of the terminal. The approximate cost to city centre will be £18 and the journey time is around twenty minutes. Alternatively, an express
coach service runs from outside the terminal building (Bus Stop Bays 1
and 2). There are frequent services to Glasgow city centre
operated by Citylink and Fairline as a combined service 905. All
services have drop off points at various locations in the city
including close to Glasgow Central and Queen Street railway stations
and at Buchanan bus station. Single fare to the city centre is
£3.30 and £5.00 return. The approximate journey time from the
airport to city centre by bus is 25 minutes. The city centre bus
stops have an airport logo. There will be a convention service
centre desk at the airport to welcome and assist you with your onward
travel.

Glasgow Central Station is a key hub
in the national rail network. A bus service operates from Gordon
Street at the front of the station, to Glasgow Queen Street Station and
Buchanan Bus Station.
Glasgow
Queen Street Station is the second main line station situated in the
city centre, as well as providing excellent links to areas in and
around Greater Glasgow. Intercity links to all major UK cities. There are frequent services to Edinburgh (50 minutes) and London (5 hours).

Buchanan Bus Station (www.spt.co.uk/buchananbusstation) is the main terminus for long distance coaches.
Road: There
are excellent road links to Glasgow. Just follow the
directions below. Remember to leave plenty of time for your
journey, as traffic can be heavy at peak times.
From England and the south: Via
the M6 and M74 (A74) motorways. Leave the M74 Junction 4 to join
the M73 Junction 1. Leave the M73 Junction 2 to join the M8
Junction 8 westbound. Exit the M8 Junction 15 for the John Anderson
Campus.
From Stirling and the north: Via
the M9, M80 (A80) and M8 motorways. Traffic from Fife should follow
signs for the Kincardine Bridge and then join the M876. Leave the M8
Junction 15 for the John Anderson Campus.
From Edinburgh and the east: Via
the M8 motorway. East Lothian and Northumberland traffic on the A1
should take the A720 Edinburgh City By-pass to join the M8. Tyneside
traffic should take the A69 Carlisle Road and join the M6 at Junction
44, the intersection with the A74 (M) northbound, then M73 and M8.
Leave the M8 Junction 15 for the John Anderson Campus.

TRANSPORT WITHIN GLASGOW
Buses: Many
routes serve the city centre. Numerous other routes serve Dumbarton
Road, Great Western Road and Byres Road. A seasonal tourist bus runs
from George Square and provides a open-top bus ride around the city.
Underground: The nearest underground station located at Glasgow Queen Street rail station, and travels to the south and west of the City.
Local trains: The nearest suburban rail station is Glasgow Queen Street, about five minutes walk from the Concern .
